How our trials work
10 progressive Levels
We have 10 trial levels, each increasing in challenge as your teams skills develop. Every trial is scored out of 100 points, with points deducted for specific faults during the search. To pass a trial, you must finish with 70 points or more. Feedback sheets will be provided after each trial giving you and your dog advice and tips on how to progress, as well as celebrating your skill.
Progression isn't just passing one trial and moving on. To demonstrate consistency, dogs must achieve three qualifying passes at each level before advancing to the next. This ensures every team has the confidence and experience needed before taking on a new challenge.
Target odour
We use a variety of odour at The Sniffer Society, including gun oil, clove, birch and anise.
Here's what makes us different... your dog, your odour.
When joining as a member, you will have the opportunity to select which target odour you would like to work from our approved list.
Your chosen odour will remain the same throughout your progression through the levels, ensuring consistency.
If you would like to change your target odour, you would need to start from level 1 with your new odour choice.
